Mixing baking + activism is my jam.

Hi and welcome! I’m Courtney, a mother, gun violence prevention advocate, and home cook. I started this blog in 2008 as a way to chronicle all the new recipes I was trying as I taught myself how to cook more involved recipes than the ones I grew up making. These days, I’m often baking for campaigns and elected officials, but there are few things I love more than hosting a few friends at my house, all of us gathered around a cheese board with cocktails in hand.

Food connects us, but I don’t want you sitting at my table if things like racism, sexism, homophobia, misogyny, and xenophobia aren’t deal breakers for you. That’s not an exhaustive list, but I think you get the point.

If you’re still here, I hope you’ll stay a while! Feel free to reach out to me on my contact page. The best place to catch me is on Instagram, so make sure to follow me @courtney.champion, and tag me when you share something from the site. I love seeing what you make!

Making and s  haring food is my love language.

My Food Philosophy

Everything you see here is food that I’ve made in my home kitchen, with a focus on attainable, reliable recipes. My real life doesn’t look like a curated Instagram feed, and my recipes don’t either. I like my food and my parties fun and unfussy, and those are the types of recipes you’ll find here. You don’t need fancy foods or a fancy house to entertain at home. All you need is good food and good people.

Need somewhere to start? My family requests these baked chicken taquitos basically every week, and these double chocolate muffins are weekend regulars at our house. We celebrate Pizza Friday every Friday night. For parties, these homemade funfetti cupcakes are always a hit.
